What’s do great about this number is so much of it is in the ballroom partner dancing style. Of course, the chemistry between the two of them is amazing as is the dancing itself. I love watching Rita and Fred dance together.
A GIRL TOLD ME THAT I WAS EXTREMELY SLIM YESTERDAY, AT 80 KGS. FRED ASTAIRE IS MUCH MUCH SLIMER THAN ME. AND AS DANCE IS SOMETHING MORE FEMININE THAN MASCULINE, MEN DOING THIS SHOUKD BE VERY VERY SLIM, RATHER THAN BEING RAMBOS ...
THE IMAGE I HAD OF RITA HAYWORTH WAS THE TEALLY SOPHISTICATED WOMAN, SUCH AD IN GILDA, A FILM OF THE FIFTEES. BUT I TEVISED MY IDEA, ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE APPEARS WITH FRED ASTAIRE.
Hayworth was born Margarita Cansino to a Spanish father and an Irish-American mother, and when she made her way to Hollywood in the 1930's she was subjected to an exhaustive makeover that eliminated most traces of her ethnicity... Hollywood🙄😈
This was definitely Fred's favorite dancer and he is totally mesmerized! You can see it in his eyes AND smile. NEVER saw him look at Ginger that way and I have all of the movies they did on VHS...yes all on VHS!
To each their own but I'm not sure if we've seen the same movies. Fred&Ginger are in a place of their own and I don't recall him not looking at Ginger like he deeply adored her. It's okay if people have different tastes but in the 10 movies I have, they seem pretty much over the moon, "I'll be hard to handle" comes to mind as one example. But that's just my experience and I enjoy it. Everybody can enjoy what they prefer and like. 😊
@@biancatellington85 Yes. Someone else made this correction. Mercer did write the lyrics and Kerm wrote the music. But Kern did work on other projects with Ira Gershwin.
Did you know she was Mexican? Her real name was margarita, they made her change her name and her look and lose her accent to make her more white. She suffered a lot of abuse from the man in her life including her father who made her dance every hour of the day and did not let her have normal childhood, he sexualy abused her and controlled her just like the Holywood man during her career. Still, seeing her amazing smile, how can anyone guess how much pain she had inside.
Rita Hayworth was born Margarita Carmen Cansino to a European Spanish father and an Irish-American mother, and she made her way to Hollywood in the 1930's to the 1960’s & BEYOND…!!!
EVERYONE KNOWS RITA WAS ALWAYS DUBBED BUT GOD WHAT A BEAUTY SHE WAS...HER BEST WAS "GILDA"....GREAT DANCER...AND OF COURSE FRED WAS THE BEST..NOTHING LIKE THIS TODAY...SAD...JANE POWELL PASSED AWAY LAST MONTH AT 92....THE LAST OF THOSE MGM TALENTS...
He was totally in love with her. I have seen all of his movies and he never looked this happy.
Before being an actress,Rita danced in Broadway with her father. Famous dancers
He really enjoyed working with Rita.
Rita Hayworth, una EXCELENTE BAILARINA, BRILLANTE, SUPERA A TODAS LAS PARTENERES DE FRED ASTAIRE.
It really doesn't get any better than this
The dancing is fabulous. But so is the musical arrangement and orchestration. Hollywood at its best.
Look at his face at 1:50. He is totally mesmerised by her.
Perfection!!!!
Ep nand my I’m going
Fred liked dancing with Rita because she could dance the Latin dances and Ginger could not Is a shame that they only made two movies together.
The great Astaire and Gorgeous Hayworth at the top of their game. ❤
OMG it's my wife. I love this beautiful woman ❤
periodo d'oro del cinema.

Such an amazing t as Rita Hayworth would not have lived to this day anyway/Такая изумительность как Рита Хэйворт до наших дней все равно не дожила бы
Insuperable.
Is that Rita Hayward
Hayworth!
All the men in the audience are getting elbowed for drooling.
Ах,как красиво и романтично!На них хочется смотреть, БРАВО!!!
Somethings are so beautiful all you can do is sigh...
Правда: вальс с чечёткой это весело, кто то мне об этом рассказывал🥰

I'd love to know what counted as "old fashioned" in 1942 :P
Nan Wynn dubbed her singing in this film tbh
Looks so beautiful … so simple and magical … but, very very hard! Lots and Lots of practice! They make it flowing gracefully in their dancing!

I totally agree. The chemistry between them was amazing. Rita was a beautiful woman. Never understood his pairing with Ginger.
A Studio arranged marriage. 😜

🤩😍🤩
Wasn't she glorious! Let's just see this and forget what old age and dementia did.
Love Fred Astaire but I can’t take my eyes off of Rita♥️💕💋

I am so in love with her still. Thanks
So am I. She passed away when I was 16 years old yet I've NEVER seen anyone like her in Hollywood. What an amazing dancer!!
